Toyota is introducing a new line of electric mobility devices called “Me“, designed to make individual movement accessible to everyone—regardless of age or physical ability. Toyota’s engineers focused on providing practical support for those who need more freedom of movement in everyday life as well as during leisure activities.
The first model is the Walk Me concept, inspired by the idea of enabling movement even in places where a regular wheelchair can’t go. Walk Me doesn’t have wheels but four legs, allowing it to handle stairs and uneven surfaces both indoors and outdoors. It can easily navigate narrow spaces where a traditional wheelchair would struggle. Thanks to its climbing ability, users can comfortably go up stairs or get into a car from the street. In the future, additional features are planned, such as jumping, voice control, and integration with other devices.
Barrier-free sports experiences with Boost Me and Challenge Me
For those who want to stay active, Toyota has introduced the Boost Me prototype. This device allows people in wheelchairs to participate in sports like basketball or tennis—without having to use their hands to move around the court. The seat is custom-made using 3D printing to perfectly fit the user’s body. In the future, the seat will be easily removable, so one base unit can be used by multiple people.
The third innovation is the outdoor Challenge Me device, designed mainly for seniors or people with limited mobility who want to enjoy being outdoors. It’s controlled by joysticks, with users supported by ergonomic handles. The battery and control unit are safely tucked away in waterproof armrests, ensuring reliable operation even in challenging conditions.
With these solutions, Toyota is truly making everyday life easier, enabling sport and travel, and offering greater independence to everyone who needs it—without compromise.
