Gaggenau Introduces the Minimalistic series: Purity of Form, Strength of Detail

Gaggenau, the luxury brand of professional-grade home appliances, is introducing a new range of built-in appliances: the Minimalistic series. Serving as the aesthetic counterpart to the recently launched Expressive series, the new line shares the same technical foundations and commitment to craftsmanship, yet reinterprets Gaggenau’s design philosophy through visual reduction, architectural integration, and an essential form.

Two Lines and One Ring

The Minimalistic series is defined by two linear ventilation profiles and a single central control ring. The appliances feature no handles, and the displays remain concealed behind smoked glass until activated. The seemingly “floating” control ring, milled from solid stainless steel, offers intuitive interaction and becomes the only visible functional element on an otherwise uniform surface.

Designed to support a wide range of culinary visions, the series includes a complete portfolio of built-in appliances—from classic ovens to combi-steam ovens and combi-microwave ovens, as well as fully automatic coffee machines, warming drawers, and vacuuming drawers.

Performance Pushed to the Limit

At the heart of the oven is a high-performance bottom-heating system capable of reaching up to 300°C, complemented by a powerful full-surface grill in the signature blue enamelled interior. The oven also features five-layer glass doors designed to withstand temperatures of up to 485°C.

The user interface is centred around a display that activates as you approach, along with sophisticated automatic programmes that support your culinary craft—without visual distraction and with maximum precision.

Two Finishes: Sterling and Onyx

The new appliances are available in two finishes: Gaggenau Sterling (silver) and Gaggenau Onyx (black). Both surface treatments use fine metallic particles to create visual depth and respond to ambient light. Sterling appears slightly lighter, offering a subtle contrast with kitchen cabinetry, while Onyx is more muted, allowing the appliances to blend seamlessly into darker environments.

Craftsmanship in Every Millimetre

Each appliance is the result of a fusion of industrial precision and human craftsmanship. Selected elements are finished by hand—including final inspections of materials and surfaces. As with the Expressive series, the Minimalistic series features invisible joints and exact alignment, reflecting attention paid to every millimetre.

Sven Baacke, Head of Design at Gaggenau, explains:
“While the Expressive series draws attention through sculptural framing, the Minimalistic series seeks purity in the absence of elements. It follows the principle of ‘perfection through restraint’—a reduced geometry that allows the appliances to recede into the background and support the unified architecture of the kitchen. Every detail has been refined to be more discreet, simpler, and more precise.”

Industrial designer Alexander Stuhler adds:
“In this series, we removed everything unnecessary. What remains is thoughtful geometry and a strong architectural presence. The appliance does not compete with the kitchen for attention—it becomes part of it.”

Sören Strayle, Interaction and User Interface Designer, notes:
“The ring retains a sense of tactility—it is a precise, crafted element that feels almost like a piece of jewellery. We consciously chose to preserve a certain physical interaction in a digital environment.”

Dr. Peter Goetz, Managing Director of Gaggenau, concludes:
“The new Minimalistic series reflects our ongoing pursuit of timeless design. It honours the principle that the most powerful forms are often the simplest. This is our most minimalist series to date—created to remain relevant and sophisticated for decades to come.”
