This autumn, Prague will get a taste of Sticks’n’Sushi

People go to Copenhagen for design, architecture, calm—and that particular kind of Nordic effortlessness. We added one more reason: Sticks’n’Sushi. A phenomenon that has long been among Denmark’s most respected dining concepts, and has gradually found its place in the UK and Germany too. And after our editorial evening in Copenhagen, one thing is clear: Prague has something to look forward to.

Sticks’n’Sushi has that rare kind of energy. The light is flattering, the volume is just right, the team reads you without unnecessary questions, and the atmosphere makes you want to order one more thing simply because the night is moving at the perfect pace. It’s exactly the kind of restaurant where you’re not chasing an impression. You just sit, taste, and think: yes, I’ll definitely be back.

The menu is built on variety and the pleasure of mixing and matching. Alongside sushi and sashimi, there are grilled skewers—“sticks”—that give the concept its character and depth. The grill, in particular, won us over with its juiciness and clean, focused flavours; it’s a kitchen that can be bold while staying impeccably refined. Sticks’n’Sushi also works beautifully for guests who don’t usually gravitate towards fish—the offer is designed so everyone can shape their evening their own way.

Among the moments we’re taking with us is Temaki Setto—DIY handrolls you assemble yourself. There’s playfulness in it, but also that luxurious confidence in the ingredients: lobster, wagyu tartare, avocado. The Maki Maki set is the kind of choice you make when you want to taste the iconic combinations and understand why people talk about them. And if you love a flavour that lingers on the palate just a second longer, black cod in miso marinade is one of the reasons people keep coming back.

Desserts don’t feel like an obligatory finale. Coconut rice with mango sorbet and passion fruit sauce is clean, bright, and precise. The warm chocolate fondant with a matcha centre and vanilla ice cream, on the other hand, is comforting and elegant—without unnecessary sweetness.
The drinks list holds the same standard: sake, Japanese loose-leaf teas, modern cocktails, and premium spirits. And a detail we loved: a Japanese rice lager created in collaboration with Danish brewery Mikkeller—a small touch that beautifully captures Denmark and Japan in a single story.

Behind Sticks’n’Sushi are people—and a culture you can feel in every interaction. Their motto, “Big smiles, small egos,” doesn’t come across as a slogan. It’s an atmosphere you take home with you.
And now the most important part: Sticks’n’Sushi is coming to Prague. The first restaurant is set to open at Jungmannovo Square, in a three-level space that will connect Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian design, complete with a private dining room and a terrace. After Copenhagen, we know it won’t be just “a new spot on the map.” It will be an address you go to for the experience.

We already know that when the doors open in Prague this autumn, we’ll be there. And honestly—we can’t wait.
