The Volvo XC60 is a phenomenon. Since its launch in 2008, it has captured the hearts of customers worldwide and was even named World Car of the Year in 2018. Now, with more than 2.7 million cars sold, it has officially become the best-selling model in the Swedish carmaker’s history. Its success is no accident, but the result of a carefully designed synergy of features that make it the ideal car for the twenty-first century. And after its recent update, this is truer than ever.
In addition to the successful plug-in hybrid powertrains, the Volvo XC60 is also available in a mild-hybrid version. As part of a special offer, it is also available from CZK 11,283 per month (excl. VAT).
“Growing up in Sweden in the 80s, the Volvo 240 was the iconic family car,” says Susanne Hägglund, Director of Global Offering at Volvo Cars. “Today, the Volvo XC60 has taken over that role… as our best-selling model of all time.” Her words confirm a historic shift: while families around the world once trusted the 240 estate, today, with the growing popularity of SUVs, the XC60 has become their clear choice.
In its day, the Volvo 240 set new safety standards with, for example, crumple zones and reinforced side-impact protection. The Volvo XC60 built on this legacy and took it to a new level. It was the first car in the world to come with the City Safety automatic emergency braking system as standard, and later, the Oncoming Lane Mitigation system. Thanks to this, it remains one of the safest cars on the road today.
Clean lines and a confident stance make the XC60 a car that doesn’t age. For the MY26 model year, its look has been further refreshed—a new grille, darker rear lights, and new wheel options underscore its premium character. Furthermore, the colour palette has been enriched with three new shades: Forest Lake Green, Aurora Silver, and, for the first time on this model, Mulberry Red. The luxurious cabin atmosphere is completed by new premium materials, such as Quilted Nordico.
The biggest changes have taken place inside. The updated XC60 gets a new-generation infotainment system that is more than twice as fast as its predecessor. It is dominated by a larger, 11.2-inch touchscreen with a sharper display and integrated Google services. The listening experience is then elevated to a new level by the premium Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
The current generation of the XC60 became the best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe last year, making this powertrain accessible to a wide range of customers. The updated model continues this success story and plays a key role in the brand’s electrification strategy. It represents an ideal bridge to a fully electric future for those who appreciate the benefits of emission-free driving but are not yet ready to give up the security of a combustion engine. Data shows that approximately half of the distance driven by the latest Volvo plug-in hybrids is done purely on electricity.
