Britain’s New Railway Jewel

Discover the UK’s beauty aboard a new luxury train. Belmond’s Britannic Explorer promises Michelin-starred dining, a spa, and exclusive experiences.

Great Britain might not be everyone’s typical summer destination, but now there is one more reason to add it to your list. Belmond, renowned for its iconic hotels and trains, has unveiled the first luxury sleeper train connecting England and Wales: the Britannic Explorer. Its inaugural three-night journey departed on 21st July for scenic Wales, followed by other exclusive routes taking passengers to the sun-drenched beaches of Cornwall and through the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District National Park.

The Britannic Explorer is the third luxury addition to Belmond’s British fleet, joining the British Pullman and the Royal Scotsman. Its eight carriages offer a sanctuary in eighteen cabins, three of which are spacious Grand Suites complete with a dedicated butler. The interior design, inspired by the essence of the British countryside, is the work of London-based studio Albion Nord and artist Luke Edward Hall. The walls are adorned with original works by painter Ed Burkes and textile designer Adam Halls, while the lighting has been expertly curated by the renowned designer Rose Uniacke.

On board, you will also find a wellness suite, created in collaboration with the British skincare brand Wildsmith Skin, and two dining carriages. The gastronomic experience is overseen by Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan, a pioneer of the British farm-to-table movement, who prepares breakfast, lunch, dinner, and of course, a traditional afternoon tea for guests. You can enjoy a cocktail in the panoramic observation car, admiring the passing scenery.

Unforgettable Experiences

Belmond prides itself on enabling guests to experience the culture and beauty of the destinations they visit. That’s why the journey includes exclusive off-train experiences. You can go sailing in Cornwall, try paddleboarding in the Lake District, or visit lavender farms in the heart of Wales. “Our new train offers guests an unprecedented exploration of the United Kingdom’s hidden treasures,” says General Manager Hendrik Huebner.

Prices for this unique adventure start from €7,200 per person for a Twin Suite and €17,350 per person for a Grand Suite. Tickets for the first journeys are already on sale. So, if you are looking for a trip that combines luxury, adventure, and British elegance, the Britannic Explorer is the perfect choice.
