Traditional Czech glassmaking has reached a new milestone. The family-owned company Crystal Caviar, from North Bohemia, in collaboration with sculptor Jaroslav Prošek, has created and installed the world’s longest chandelier, earning an entry in the Guinness World Records. This magnificent piece, which took almost two years to create, now adorns the exclusive Solitaire Mall in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The monumental light installation is a celebration of precision and technical excellence. It measures an incredible 228 metres, weighs over 10 tonnes, and is composed of 44,088 hand-cut crystals. Its dynamic lighting is powered by more than 215,000 LED chips, which allow the colour temperature of the light to be altered, creating an ever-changing atmosphere in the space.
The concept was designed by the acclaimed sculptor Jaroslav Prošek, whose work is often inspired by nature and ecological themes. His unique approach to glass, which he works more like stone, has given the chandelier a monumental sculptural form and a new significance within the context of design and architecture.
