In an era of growing uncertainty, accelerating pace, and information overload, people often turn to symbolic structures to comprehend the world. The ‘Myths’ exhibition, presented by Cermak Eisenkraft Gallery on the 2nd floor of Topičův dům at Národní 9 in Prague , responds precisely to this phenomenon. The project reflects the escape of the younger generation into the world of social networks, virtual reality, or addictions, and opens the gates to the realm of fantasy and inner experiences.
The Myths exhibition offers interconnected perspectives from ten significant Czech and German artists. Through their distinctive visual language, they reflect the disillusionment of contemporary times and open a dialogue between two cultures. Their work serves as proof that myth is not merely a reminder of the past, but an active player that shapes our relationship to our surroundings and to ourselves.
In the works of Šimon Brejcha, Jiří Černický, Karel Štědrý, Vladimír Véla, Fritz Bornstück, Lennart Grau, Ruprecht von Kaufmann, Maik Wolf, Viet Bang Pham, and Paul Wesenberg , visitors will find space for contemplation and personal interpretation. The exhibition simultaneously poses questions about meaning and values in a challenging era and highlights subliminal social movements that may portend greater changes.
The project was developed under the curatorial guidance of Tomáš Zapletal Cermak , and its expert guarantors are leading Czech philosopher Prof. Miroslav Petříček and internationally recognized curator and art historian Prof. Mark Gisbourne. The exhibition received support from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Czech Republic. Cermak Eisenkraft Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of Topičův dům at Národní 9, Prague 1 , within its sensitively restored exhibition halls , a building that is itself a significant cultural monument.
The ‘Myths’ exhibition is on view from June 18 to September 12, 2025. Admission is free throughout the exhibition.
