While the surrounding streets bustle with shopping fever, a different world opens up just a few steps from Na Příkopě Street. This year, the Slovanský dům garden introduces the poetic theme “When Christmas Spreads Its Wings”, featuring a central motif of butterflies.
Why butterflies? They are symbols of transformation, hope, and fragile beauty born from silence and darkness—just as the light of Christmas is born in the darkest part of the year. Illuminated butterfly silhouettes float among the trees, glow on the bushes, and dance above the pond. This stunning lighting display was traditionally created by the Czech family company Decoled, transforming the vision of Slovanský dům into a precise work of art. The entire garden becomes a place to pause and find inner calm.
The garden offers not only a visual experience but also comfortable facilities. Visitors can look forward to the popular light tunnel or a special photo point with a phone stand, allowing you to take perfect Christmas photos without assistance. For those who wish to enjoy the atmosphere in the warmth, cosy heated igloos will be available for seating.
An integral part of the experience involves festive drinks from Advivum, elevating classic mulled wine to a gourmet affair. Forget ordinary wine—you can warm up with original recipes such as the light white mulled wine “Sparkling & Spiced” with lavender honey, dried fruit, and a touch of Prosecco, or the fuller-bodied red mulled wine “Hot & Fruity Sangria” with oranges and black pepper.
Drivers and the youngest visitors are also well catered for, with hot apple with cinnamon or traditional American hot chocolate with a generous portion of whipped cream and marshmallows on offer. The stall featuring these specialities is open daily from 14:00 to 21:00.
The Christmas garden is open to the public every day, with its light decorations shining from 16:30 to 24:00. You can enjoy this magical atmosphere in the heart of Prague until 10 January 2026.
