Gala evenings have their own kind of glow. Yet only some of them gain something more — a cinematic atmosphere, a subtle sense of anticipation, and a natural elegance that cannot be artificially created. This year’s Czech Lion 2026 was precisely such an occasion. Held on 14 March in the new setting of the Prague Congress Centre, it once again reminded us that truly powerful stories stay with us long after the spotlights have faded.
For the tenth time, Volvo partnered with this prestigious cultural event and once again served as the gala evening’s official transport provider. The connection feels effortless: a brand built on refinement, respect, and thoughtful design joining an evening that celebrates the very best of Czech film and television. It is not only about logistics. It is about atmosphere, detail, and the way an evening begins long before guests take their seats.
Among the acting performances, Idan Weiss stood out in the role of Franz Kafka, while Dũng Nguyễn received the award for Best Supporting Actor for Summer School, 2001. Another remarkable moment belonged to sixteen-year-old Kateřina Falbrová, who won Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Choirmaster. The award for Best Supporting Actress went to Juliána Brutovská for Caravan. The Best Director award was presented to Katarína Gramatová for her sensitive debut Up Above the Sky, Down Below Me. In the television categories, the six-part drama The Well emerged as the standout title.
Yet the Czech Lion is not only about awards. It is about emotion, encounters, cultural memory, and the present moment as it writes itself into the future. And it is precisely here that Volvo’s role reveals its quiet strength. Unassuming, yet unmistakable, it creates the setting for moments that are not easily forgotten — bringing guests to the heart of the evening with elegance, calm, and a sensitivity to every detail.
