Pursuing Golf Excellence

Welcome to PGA National Czech Republic Oaks Prague, a golf course ambitiously competing with Europe’s most prestigious resorts.

Southeast of Prague, in Nebřenice village, perfectly maintained greens and fairways stretch across the landscape. The PGA National Czech Republic Oaks Prague golf course — the only one in our country with the prestigious PGA license — represents the best that contemporary golf has to offer. In five years since opening its 18 holes, it has won five titles for the best Czech course and, in 2024, became the first in Czechia to make the Top 100 Golf Courses ranking in the continental Europe category. That same year, it also added first place among courses in the Czech Republic in Golf Digest’s international ratings.

“We’re pleased to provide golfers in Czechia with an exclusive and premium golf experience,” says Barbora Kociánová, the course’s marketing manager. “We want guests to play here, experience our service, and see what a golf day looks like from a member’s perspective,” she adds. This relates to the possibility of becoming a trial member for a season. “This type of membership has proven to work excellently,” she confirms. What gives her great joy is that Czechia is increasingly being recognized as a golf destination. “We offer the best golfing experience in Central Europe, perfectly harmonized with Prague’s rich culture, history, and breathtaking architecture.”

Precision in Every Detail

Kyle Phillips, architect of four courses in the world’s Top 100, gave the local landscape its new face. His philosophy of environmentally sustainable design is visible at every step. While majestic mature trees characterize the northern part of the course, the southern part offers more open panoramas. In line with Phillips’ original vision, new trees were added in the past year, which will gradually complete the intended appearance of the course.

Each of the eighteen holes has its own character. The so-called signature hole is number 14, with a view of Prague. It’s no wonder that professionals competed here during last August’s D+D REAL Czech Masters tournament, part of the DP World Tour. “The eleventh hole is one of the most beautiful par threes. And although the twelfth is the most challenging hole on the course, its layout and bordering birch grove are stunning,” describes Barbora Kociánová this iconic passage. “Every detail matters,” she explains the course’s philosophy. When someone visits Oaks, a team member greets them by name and takes care of their golf bag. After play, they clean the clubs and bring a personalized bag tag with the player’s name. “It’s a small thing, but when I meet our guests at other courses and see our tag on their bag, I know we’ve made the right impression.”

It’s no coincidence that Oaks Prague is managed by Troon, which oversees five hundred courses worldwide. Under their guidance, the course achieves exceptional quality consistency. Green speeds remain stable at around eleven feet, matching courses hosting international tournaments. The driving range allows practice from fully grassed areas, and the eighteen-member greenkeeper team works with watchmaker precision. Half are year-round employees, unique in the Czech environment.

Game, Business, Relaxation

The same attention is reflected in the course facilities. The clubhouse is located in the sensitively reconstructed Nebřenice chateau from the nineteenth century, where interior architects Chapman Taylor masterfully combined historical elements with contemporary design. The result is a space that serves both for informal post-game meetings and important business negotiations. “The most interesting collaborations are often arranged here,” notes Barbora Kociánová. “More than four hours on the course provide an excellent opportunity to get to know someone from a different perspective — how they handle game situations or think strategically. In my opinion, this helps foster more open communication.”

With green fees ranging from 3,000 to 3,750 Czech crowns, PGA National Czech Republic Oaks Prague ranks among the most premium golf courses in the country. However, as Barbora Kociánová explains, international visitors are often surprised by the affordability compared to similar resorts. “At courses worldwide offering comparable experiences, players typically pay higher prices. The Czech Republic provides players great value throughout their stay and remains a relatively undiscovered gem, whether from the perspective of golf, historical monuments, or gastronomy.”

The Future of Czech Golf

As mentioned earlier, last summer the course hosted the 10th D+D REAL Czech Masters, part of the prestigious DP World Tour. “It was a significant milestone for us. The feedback from players, spectators, and the promoter was positive, which pleased us and motivates us to keep moving forward. The goal is for every visitor to leave with a sense of exceptional experience.”

In its short existence, PGA National Czech Republic Oaks Prague has accomplished what many doubted: building a world-class course that, in just four years, has joined the European elite. This only proves that even in the Czech Republic, a product can emerge that stands up to the most demanding international competition. And most importantly — anyone can experience it themselves. Just reserve a tee time or sign up for the open Oaks Cup tournament held here every Sunday. That’s how a journey toward golfing perfection can begin.
